Cyclone Nargis swept across southern Myanmar in May 2008, claiming thousands of lives and damaging hundreds of thousands of homes. Despite government and military resistance to accept outside assistance, Business Roundtable member companies were able to donate more than $7.5 million to the immediate relief effort.
